Manette Tepe, Senior Vice President of Development said “…the 8,000-sq. ft. restaurant will include a 1,000- sq. ft outdoor patio, a spacious bar and reservable private dining room, separate carry-out area. The pizzeria is scheduled to open in August across from Exploration Toys and Totally Birkenstock…”
According to Larry Briski, Operating Partner “…in addition to the famous specialty deep-dish pizza baked in cast-iron pans the restaurant will offer a full menu featuring homemade appetizers, pastas, salads and sandwiches to satisfy any appetite.”
Each legendary deep-dish pizza is created with a secret, golden crust, fresh vine-ripened tomatoes, and loaded with your choice of fresh ingredients. Once baked to perfection, these enormous pies are brought to your table in our well-seasoned pans.
“Gino’s East is excited to be a part of Heritage Square and the surrounding South Bend/Michiana market. This will be our first Gino’s East outside the greater Chicago land area and we know people love the authentic taste of our Chicago style pizza,” said Briski.
Briski stated, “Gino’s East in Heritage Square will pull in new customers and allow our loyal Gino’s East fans a piece of Chicago in their backyard.”
According to Tepe “…Gino’s East represents the best of Chicago, right here in Granger/Mishawaka serving all of Michiana, and we believe Gino’s will be a very well received addition to Heritage Square”.
About Gino’s East
The Gino´s East story began in 1966 when two taxi drivers and a friend, frustrated with rush hour traffic, decided to open a pizzeria just off Michigan Ave. and Superior St. in Chicago. The Original Gino´s East became an instant legend with local Chicagoans, national celebrities and visitors from around the world.
The original location was at 160 East Superior Street, just east of Michigan Avenue, in the Streeterville district of Chicago. The restaurant furnishings moved in 2006, from its Superior Street location into another space at 633 North Wells Street (former Planet Hollywood). The tradition of writing on the walls, however, remains the same in the new location. Superior Street was re-built as a new facility on the original location (the new Original Gino’s). The company subsequently opened other locations, including Rolling Meadows, IL, Lake Zurich, IL, and Deerfield, IL. Additionally, Gino´s East opened a mail-order business, where patrons could order frozen pizzas and have them shipped overnight.
